Ulua Beach is located in South Maui, off of Wailea Alanui Street. Featuring a beautiful, sandy beach and calm waters, this is a very popular beach. Ulua Beach was originally named after an offshore bird sanctuary that was sadly destroyed during WWII artillery practice.
Ulua Beach is known for being one of Maui’s best snorkeling and scuba diving locations. To the right of the beach, you will find The Turtle Reef, the main reason Ulua Beach is so famous for its snorkeling.
Besides snorkeling, swimming is also good on this beach thanks to its gently sloping sandy bottom. There’s also a nice shady grass area you can hang out on, along with bathrooms and showers. If you’re looking for a nice walk, there is a “boardwalk” that goes from the Andaz to the Fairmont Kea Lani. Ulua Beach is right next to a second beach, Mokapu beach, both of which are accessed by the same path (take a left to rech Ulua Beach).
