Polo Beach is found on the South Side of Maui, and fronts the Polo Beach Club and the Fairmont Kea Lani Hotel. Polo Beach was originally named “Dead Horse Beach” and then re-named by the resort – probably because it sounded rather unappealing!
There is a small grassy park on this beach, where you can relax and take advantage of their picnic tables and BBQs. If you’re looking for a quiet spot, we recommend you head to the south side of the beach, as the north end tends to get crowded with resort guests.
The snorkeling at Polo beach is quite good, especially on the north end of the beach where a rocky protrusion into the ocean provides a good place for marine life to hide. There’s also excellent swimming at this beach, thanks to the sand’s gentle descent into the water.
