Maluaka Beach can be found directly in front of Makena Beach & Golf Resort on the South shore of Maui. It’s a long, wide beach whose golden sand slopes very gently into the beautiful blue ocean. It has a nice, cool, grassy area to relax on, as well as picnic tables, restroom facilities and an outdoor shower. It’s bordered by Kiawe trees and sand dunes, which is why it is sometimes called “Pu’u One”, meaning “sand hills”.
Maluaka Beach is a great beach for sunbathing, swimming (be cautious of submerged boulders at either end of the beach) and snorkeling. There are lots of coral and rocks around this beach, making it a great place for marine life. You can also sand up paddle board here, but we recommend you only try this in the morning, before the wind picks up in the afternoon.
