Surfing is one of the most rewarding ocean sports in Hawaii. However, without the fundamentals, learning to surf would be like trying to bake a chocolate souffle without a recipe. The Nancy Emerson School of surfing was Hawaii’s first surfing institution, and has been teaching students of all ages to surf or improve their surfing techniques since 1973. Professional surfer Nancy Emerson developed her teaching techniques to be simple and easy with an emphasis on positive encouragement.
The surf “lessons” are offered on a daily basis and focus on the beginning stages of paddling, and getting up whereas the surf “clinics” are for a few days at a time and offer a more in depth view into the art of surfing. One of the biggest trends to hit the islands recently is stand up paddling (SUP). Learn stand up paddling at the surf school for a great all around work out of balance and core while giving you a chance to see the ocean from a new perspective; it’s like walking on water!
Maui Surf Clinics offers something for surfers of all skill levels, and uses all types of boards from soft top long boards to high performance shorties. Their photographers catch all your amazing moments riding the waves on camera for you to take home with you so you’ll have proof when your telling your friends back home about your epic surf adventures shredding the Hawaiian waves!
